Pearson BTECs are work-related qualifications for students taking their first steps into employment or those already in employment and seeking career development opportunities. The HNC, equivalent to the first year in a UK honors degree, designed to provide crucial theory and practical experience to meet employer’s needs and get you into the industry, or progress to the HND!

Core Modules for HNC

Module A: Process and Practice: A holistic module integrating technical, research, and development skills.

  • Unit A1: Concept and Development: Explores the history and theories of sound engineering alongside technical skills necessary to support creative practice (85 credits).
  • Unit A2: Creative Project: Requires students to analyse a brief and produce a project outcome that demonstrates technical and professional mastery (35 credits).

Music Production Specialisation: Core Technical Skills: Includes MIDI processing, virtual studio technology (VST), and creative sound production such as sampling and audio manipulation.

Sound Engineering Specialisation: Focuses on the properties of sound waves, digital audio technology (sampling/bit rates), and the architecture of both studio and live sound venues.
